Designing change people can shape

A useful perspective

People recognise the difference between being informed about a change and helping to shape it. Be clear about what is already decided, what is open for discussion and how feedback will affect the next step.

Invite colleagues into specific questions. Ask how a proposed handoff would work on a busy day, or which information a new role would need. Concrete situations create better conversations than broad requests for opinions.

Close the loop. Explain what you heard, what you changed and why some suggestions could not be adopted. Trust grows through that visible connection between listening and action.
