A useful perspective
Walk through a recent piece of work with the people who handled it. Where did they wait, copy information or ask for clarification? These details reveal the problems a tool will need to solve.
Then simplify the process before adding automation. Clear responsibilities and a well-timed handoff may remove more friction than another system. Test one improvement with a small group and listen carefully to what changes.
Success is a process colleagues can understand and maintain. Document the exceptions, assign an owner and leave room to revise the workflow as the organisation grows.
